The Hospital Sírio-Libanês contributes to and cooperates with achieving two of the principles of the Single Health System (the public health service model adopted in the country): 'universality' - every citizen has the right to health; and 'equality' - doing more for those who need it.
Agreement with the São Paulo Municipal Health Department
The Hospital Sírio-Libanês carries out actions, which translate the institution's interest in strengthening its ties to the public authorities and contributing to serving the public in the health area and in socially vulnerable areas that demand organized actions by society.
Since 2003, it has guaranteed the building maintenance and support for the Health Units (places where primary health care is carried out) information technology area in the central region. It has also donated 14 complete workstations (microcomputers, printers and scanners) and carried out information network installations at 12 Health Care Units in the Sé region.
Patients sent by the Municipal Health Service's Call Center receive highly complex examinations and diagnoses, such as magnetic resonance, computerized tomography, ultrasound and endoscopies free of charge. More than 5,000 people benefited during the first year of the partnership alone.
In 2005, this agreement was renewed and expanded to include highly complex surgical procedures, such as liver transplants, congenital cardiac surgery and breast cancer surgery using intrasurgical radiation.
The partnership has also included the renovation of the Menino Jesus Municipal Children's Hospital and nine Sé Health Units, under the responsibility of the Hospital Sírio-Libanês.
