The Hospital Sírio-Libanês Memory Disturbance Diagnostic Center offers a wide range of services, including the Memory Check-up.
This examination can be undertaken by anybody who suffers loss of memory or of any other cognitive functions, such as language or attention disorders, temporal or spatial disorientation, problems during daily living or professional activities, as well as patients whose family members have noticed a decline in their cognitive performance.
The specialist team is made up of general practitioners, neuropsychologists and psychiatrists. The service also carries out Early Diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease; the Differential Diagnosis of Dementia Syndrome; The Advanced Diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease, which estimates the risk of contracting the disease, and the Preoperative Cognitive Evaluation. Even though some conditions are irreversible, adequate treatment can lessen the evolution of the degenerative process and strengthen the affected cognitive capacities. On top of this, early diagnosis provides better guidance for pharmacological, psychosocial and rehabilitation treatment and, thus, improves the quality of life both of the patient and his or her family.
