The Hospital Sírio-Libanês operating theater structure consists of 11 rooms equipped with the latest generation monitoring and anesthesia equipment.
It was constructed around the concept of one-directional flow, where the sterile material never crosses paths with used or dirty material - not even in the corridors - thus reducing the risk of contamination to a minimum.
With the same objective in mind, the air has been to programmed to circulate in such a way that the currents flow out of the operating theaters, thus preventing the air from the internal and external corridors from penetrating this environment. Furthermore, the quality of the air is also subjected to a rigorous particle and micro-organism detection control system, whilst the temperature and the humidity are determined by a central control, in spite of it being possible to adjust them differently in each room, depending on the procedure being carried out or the surgical team's preferences.
Prosthetic hip implants and neurosurgical procedures are carried out in a room, which is equipped with laminar flow and is, like all the others, equipped with complete monitoring equipment and modern anesthesia apparatus.
The post-anesthesia recovery room is at the heart of the unit, which enables the nurse to provide the patient with better treatment during the post-operative period. All the same, patient care starts when the patient arrives. An electromechanical transfer system, which has done away with the need for stretchers, operating tables and manual manipulation, is used.
The Supply Center is responsible for preparing the surgical trolleys with customized kits of material for each operating team. It also coordinates the work of the technicians responsible for assembling and regulating the electronic equipment that will be used in the various procedures.
