The Hospital Sírio-Libanês Sleep Medicine Unit was introduced because of the increasing number of disturbances brought about by the lack of sleep, which are responsible for damaging people's quality of life and their health.
Advances in medicine have enabled countless problems, which occur during sleep and which may affect the quality of the patient's sleep, to be identified, such as snoring, apnea, ventilatory and respiratory disturbances, cardiovascular diseases, alterations in sleep movement, fibromyalgia, nocturnal epilepsy, sleepwalking, nocturnal fear and others.
The Unit, which operates 24 hours a day, brings together experienced professionals and is fully equipped to meet the needs of patients, including children, who are treated with polysomnographies and neuropediatric monitoring. There are also specific accessories for carrying out examinations on newly-born babies, COPDs (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and cardiopathic patients available.
